Single Vineyard Vaughn's Jardin Gamay
Wine
Sinapius Single Vineyard Vaughn's Jardin Gamay draws from a small block of densely planted Gamay vines in the front garden of the Sinapius founders' Pipers Brook home.
In September 2015, Linda Morice was surprised to find that her husband, the late Vaughn Dell, had planted a new 'garden' in view of their kitchen window. The wine honours Vaughn, who could often be found tending these vines.
The wine is made in a similar way to Pinot Noir. The fruit is destemmed and naturally fermented. After 2-3 weeks on skins, the wine is pressed and sent to seasoned French oak hogsheads to mature. It is then bottled without fining or filtration.
Bright ruby red, Sinapius Single Vineyard Vaughn's Jardin Gamay is a wine of depth, intensity and texture with a lively freshness. Cellaring potential is five years.
